Blue Star Marker--"Blue Star Bricks"
In 2005 the Elm Grove Garden Club undertook the placing of a Blue Star Marker at the corner of Legion Drive and Juneau Boulevard. This site was chosen to commemorate the former home of the Stenz-Griessell-Smith Post 449. The bronze marker has been placed and is surrounded by a small garden and landscaping. Members furnish the plants and maintain the garden. A bench has been placed for meditation purposes and to rest and reflect on those who served and are still serving in the Military.
The club is currently raising money to install the "Blue Star Brick" pathway leading through the garden area. We need your help to finish this worthy project. The pathway surrounding the marker has been paved with bricks, providing you a unique opportunity to make a lasting mark to:
a) Commemorate your family's place in Elm Grove history.
b) Honor a family member, friend or associate currently serving in the military or one who has served in the past.
c) Recognize a military member who has passed on.
d) Celebrate a special occasion or event.
e) Remember a loved one.
f) Recognize an achievement.
The bricks are engraved using a laser process that will penetrate, melt and crystalize the clay brick, resulting in a permanent engraving.

Garden Therapy
Garden club members volunteer to work with residents of Brookfield Regency, an assisted and attended care community, on a once a month gardening related craft project. Club members also care for the beautiful Garden Cart of indoor house plants that are enjoyed by Regency residents.
